A flexible GU10 spike light for outdoor accent lighting

ALL LED ASPKGU10A/BK is the current Sabre2 GU10 garden spike light in carbon black. Unlike an integrated LED spike light, this model uses a GU10 lamp holder, which means the lamp can be selected separately to suit the application. That is one of its main attractions. It gives the buyer control over beam angle, light colour and lamp output without having to change the fitting body itself. For outdoor feature lighting, that can be a very practical advantage because different areas often need different lamp characteristics.

The technical datasheet describes ASPKGU10A/BK as a GU10 carbon black IP65 garden wall or spike light. The fitting has an aluminium body, Class I construction and a maximum output power of 35W when used with halogen or 7W when used with LED. It is pre-wired with 2.5 metres of toughened rubber cable through a metal gland and is designed for ambient temperatures from minus 20 to 45 degrees Celsius. Guarantee is listed as 3 years.

Why the GU10 format still matters

The Sabre2 is a strong choice for buyers who want the serviceability and flexibility of a replaceable lamp format outdoors. With a GU10 spike light, the fitting body stays in place while the user chooses the most suitable lamp for the scene. A warmer lamp can create a softer garden effect, while a cooler or narrower beam lamp can be used where more precise highlighting is needed. That makes ASPKGU10A/BK more adaptable than a one-output integrated fitting in situations where the exact lighting result may evolve over time.

The datasheet also confirms the fitting is suitable for interchangeable coloured glass filters sold separately. That adds another layer of visual flexibility for decorative outdoor lighting schemes.

Built for exterior use

ALL LED specifies the Sabre2 with IP65 protection, aluminium body construction and carbon black powder coated finish. Those are the core features you would expect from a dependable exterior spike light. IP65 protection supports use in exposed outdoor positions where resistance to dust and water ingress is important, while the aluminium body and powder coated finish help the fitting cope with regular outdoor conditions.

The carbon black finish also makes the fitting easy to place in gardens and on darker hard landscaping because it stays visually understated. In many outdoor schemes that is preferable to a brighter or more decorative finish because the focus stays on the lit feature rather than the body of the fitting.

Detachable spike and mounting flexibility

One of the most useful practical features on ASPKGU10A/BK is the detachable spike. ALL LED states that the spike can be removed for surface mounting. That means the same product can be used in soft landscaping where the spike is pushed into the ground or on hard surfaces where a surface-mounted approach is required. For contractors and specifiers that widens the situations where the Sabre2 can be used and makes it a more adaptable stock item.

The fitting is also pre-wired with 2.5 metres of toughened rubber cable, which helps with positioning and connection planning outdoors. A longer pre-wired tail can reduce the need for an immediate joint right at the fitting location and make installation neater.

Verified size and rating details

The dimensional drawing shows an overall length of 320mm with the spike fitted, together with a 78mm head length and 60mm body diameter. These dimensions help keep the product compact enough for planting beds and smaller feature lighting positions while still giving it enough presence to work as a serious exterior fitting rather than a decorative miniature. The fitting is Class I and should be earthed as part of a proper outdoor installation.

Because the datasheet lists separate maximum loads for halogen and LED lamps, buyers should note the LED limit of 7W when selecting a retrofit GU10 source. That keeps the fitting within the stated technical parameters.

Where ASPKGU10A/BK fits best

ASPKGU10A/BK is well suited to gardens, borders, feature shrubs, pathway edges, signage and low-level architectural accents where a replaceable lamp outdoor fitting is preferred. It is also useful where one installation may need a spike mount and another may need a surface mount while keeping the same fitting style. Overall, the Sabre2 gives buyers a robust IP65 exterior spike light with the long-term flexibility of the GU10 format, making it a very practical option for outdoor accent lighting.
