The Sync Energy CFEV5A-01 is a grey IP65 EV consumer unit with 40A Type A RCD, 40A MCB and Type 2 SPD. When to use the RCD and MCB version

CFEV5A-01 is the grey option for EV charger circuits where a separate RCD and MCB arrangement is required. The RCD provides 30mA Type A residual-current protection, while the MCB provides overcurrent protection for the outgoing charger circuit. The Type 2 SPD is already included in the same enclosure.

The product is intended for use when the EV charger supply cable does not have mechanical protection. That makes it relevant for charger jobs where the protective board forms part of the external wiring arrangement. Final selection must still follow the installation design, cable route and charger manufacturer requirements.

Surface mounting and cable entry planning

The board is surface mounted and has 11 knockouts. BG lists the entry detail as M20 to M32 knockout positions across the enclosure faces, including top, side and base entries. That gives installers practical options for routing supply and outgoing cables without needing to modify an empty board from scratch.

The enclosure includes backed-out retained terminal screws, captive terminal screws and combi terminal screw type. A padlock facility is also listed. The grey IP65 cast aluminium enclosure is useful where the board will sit near an outside charger or in a garage, plant area or utility space.

CFEV5A-01 is populated with one 40A 30mA Type A RCD, one 40A MCB and one Type 2 SPD. CFEV5RDA-01 is the grey sibling with a 100A main switch, one 40A 30mA Type A double-pole RCBO and one Type 2 SPD. Both are 5 module grey IP65 EV enclosures, but the protective device layout is different.
