Ideal for

  • * Compatible Fox ESS single-phase inverter systems
  • * Export limitation using a wired smart meter
  • * Installations specifying CHINT DDSU666 metering
  • * DIN rail positions inside suitable enclosures

Works well with

  • * Fox ESS H1-G2 hybrid inverter systems
  • * Fox ESS KH and KA hybrid inverter systems
  • * RS485 communication cabling
  • * Installer-selected metering and protection enclosures

The Fox ESS 1ph Meter is a CHINT DDSU666 single-phase smart meter for 1P2W systems, with 176V to 288V phase-voltage input, RS485 communication and DIN35 rail mounting. It suits compatible Fox ESS inverter installations where export control or power measurement is being designed around a meter connection.

  • DDSU666 single-phase meter for compatible Fox ESS systems
  • 1P2W power grid type with 176V to 288V phase-voltage input
  • Grid-side meter connection for export limitation and power measurement
  • RS485 communication interface with 9600bps baud rate
  • Class 1 current, power and energy measurement accuracy
  • 36mm wide x 85mm high x 66mm deep, DIN35 rail mounting
  • Operating temperature range -25°C to +55°C with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity

Where is the DDSU666 meter installed?

Fox ESS inverter manuals describe the meter as part of the export limitation arrangement and state that it should be installed on the grid side. The exact position depends on the inverter model, the wiring method and whether additional generation is being monitored.

The page should not present the meter as a universal energy monitor. It is an installation component for compatible Fox ESS systems and should be selected as part of the inverter design.

Why choose a meter over a CT?

The KH/KA manual notes that a meter can be used instead of a CT for precise reading and control of power. That makes the DDSU666 useful where the installer wants a wired RS485 metering route rather than CT-based export control.

If the installation uses a CT, direction and wiring are critical. If the installation uses a meter, the RS485 wiring and addressing must be correct for the inverter setup.

What does RS485 provide?

RS485 provides the communication link between the meter and compatible Fox ESS equipment. The smart meter datasheet lists a 9600bps baud rate.

The installer must follow the relevant inverter manual for terminal assignments and default addressing. Do not mix meter positions in dual-meter layouts, because Fox ESS warns that this can cause incorrect data recording.

Is this the CHINT DDSU666 meter?

Yes. The product should be listed as the Fox ESS 1ph CHINT DDSU666 meter where the supplier line is Fox 1ph Meter. Keep DDSU666 visible in the title and specification tab to avoid confusion with three-phase DTSU666 meters.

What communication does the meter use?

The Fox ESS smart meter datasheet lists RS485 communication with a 9600bps baud rate. The wiring must follow the relevant Fox ESS inverter manual for the system being installed.

Can it replace a CT clamp?

In supported Fox ESS inverter configurations, a meter can be used instead of a CT for export limitation and power control. The installer must choose the correct method in the inverter settings and install the meter on the grid side.
