  • Driveways where a 6.5m fixed Type 2 lead reaches comfortably
  • Users wanting screen-free app control
  • Solar PV homes using surplus generation for EV charging
  • Sites needing RFID access support for controlled use

Works well with

  • Solar PV or wind microgeneration systems
  • myenergi harvi wireless sensor for CT measurement routes
  • OVO Charge Anytime with compatible firmware
  • Intelligent Octopus Go through myenergi integration
  • myenergi app for charging control and monitoring

The myenergi zappi GLO ZAPPI-3AS07T-G is a 7kW single-phase tethered EV charger with a 6.5m Type 2 cable. It is the screen-free zappi option for homes and lighter shared-use sites that want app-led charging, RFID access and solar-aware energy control without the larger LCD body of the standard zappi. The fixed cable suits regular driveway parking because the driver does not need to fetch a separate charging lead from the vehicle. GLO also keeps the wall unit compact at 350mm high, 170mm wide and 160mm deep, making it easier to place on visible elevations or tighter mounting areas. The charger can operate with grid power, surplus microgeneration or a mix of both, and belongs naturally within LAMPS’ home EV chargers range.

  • 7kW rated power on a 230V AC single-phase supply
  • 6A to 32A variable charging current, 32A maximum
  • Tethered Type 2 connector to EN 62196-1 and EN 62196-2
  • 6.5m fixed charging cable for regular driveway use
  • Screen-free control through the myenergi app
  • Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, Bluetooth Low Energy v4.2 and 868MHz radio
  • NFC/RFID card reader with RFID card supplied
  • Integrated 6mA DC residual current protection to EN 62955
  • PEN fault protection integrated on -G models
  • IP65, IK10 and polycarbonate enclosure

Why choose tethered zappi GLO?

The tethered GLO is the simpler daily-use choice where one main vehicle parks in a consistent position. A fixed 6.5m Type 2 cable means the driver can park, plug in and let the app or tariff settings manage the session. It also removes the need to keep a separate cable in the boot, which matters for users who charge several times a week.

The screen-free design makes the GLO physically different from the standard zappi. Control sits in the myenergi app, while the charger itself uses multicolour LED status indication and RFID access. That suits customers who want a quieter wall unit and are comfortable managing settings digitally rather than from a front display.

Solar, battery and tariff control

The GLO can be used with Solar PV or other microgeneration systems to use surplus generation and reduce export. The installation manual states that the charger can charge with 100% green energy, a mixture of green and grid energy, or grid energy only where no microgeneration is connected. That makes it relevant for both solar homes and standard grid-only installs.

Energy tariff integration is part of the GLO platform. myenergi states that zappi GLO is compatible with smart and off-peak tariffs including Octopus Intelligent, and its own help centre provides onboarding guidance for OVO Charge Anytime where the charger is on the required firmware. For customers comparing tariffs before installation, the LAMPS guide to Intelligent Octopus Go compatible chargers is a useful supporting page.

The charger uses CT data for energy management. Optional dynamic load balancing can regulate the current drawn from the supply or grid, helping protect the property supply from overload. GLO supports up to two external CTs, and the grid current sensor supports a 100A maximum primary current with a 16mm maximum cable diameter.

Protection points installers should check

For ZAPPI-3AS07T-G, the datasheet lists integrated 6mA DC residual current protection with RDC-DD tripping characteristics to EN 62955. The installation manual states that local regulations may require a 30mA Type A RCD upstream, so the installer still needs to design the final circuit for the site and current regulations.

PEN fault protection is integrated on -G models and is listed as compliant with BS 7671. The unit must be earthed through a permanent, correctly installed and reliable earth conductor. The final circuit should also be protected by an overcurrent device sized to 120% of the design current and selected in line with local regulation requirements.

Supply conductors can be up to 6mm² flexible or up to 10mm² solid, with screw terminations and cable entries up to 25mm diameter. The unit is for permanent fixed installation on a flat wall or surface in a vertical orientation. Grommets, plugs, cover O-ring and appropriate glands must be fitted correctly to maintain the IP rating.

Installing GLO in a myenergi system

The GLO can sit within a wider myenergi home energy system. It communicates with solar panels, battery storage and smart heating systems through the myenergi ecosystem, giving the household one app-led route for monitoring and control. That makes it a good companion for solar-first projects where EV charging is one load among several.

The supplied CT route should be planned at survey stage, especially where the meter position and charger mounting point are not close. Where a hardwired CT route is difficult, the myenergi harvi wireless sensor is the relevant myenergi accessory for wireless CT measurement, subject to the system design and compliance requirements.

Commissioning is handled through the Installer Assistant app, which guides the installer through setup, customer settings and grid parameters. The customer then manages charging through the myenergi app. The GLO is compatible with OCPP 1.6J through the myenergi backend, but not for offline or local OCPP use.

Choosing between GLO and zappi

The GLO tethered model is best where the customer wants a compact screen-free wall unit with a fixed cable. The standard zappi is the better fit where a built-in graphical LCD and on-device menu control are important. Both product families support myenergi smart charging, solar-aware operation and app-based monitoring.

Choose the screen-based zappi range where the user wants more direct adjustment at the charger. Choose the standard zappi tethered charger where a larger display body is preferred over the GLO’s cleaner front. For customers wanting removable cable storage, a socketed zappi or socketed GLO format is the more flexible option.

zappi GLO tethered questions

Does ZAPPI-3AS07T-G have a screen?

No. zappi GLO is a screen-free charger. Charging settings and monitoring are managed through the myenergi app, while the unit uses multicolour LED indication and RFID access.

Can zappi GLO charge from solar only?

Yes, where the installation is configured with suitable microgeneration sensing. The installation manual states that zappi GLO can charge with 100% green energy, a mixture of green and grid energy, or grid energy only.

What cable comes with this GLO model?

The tethered GLO has a fixed 6.5m Type 2 cable. It is intended for regular plug-in use where the vehicle normally parks within reach of the charger.
