The Ohme Home Pro OHME0002GB002-8M is a black 7.4kW tethered EV charger for a 230V AC, 50Hz single-phase supply, supplied with an 8m Type 2 lead and an IP55 enclosure. It is intended for domestic installations where the wall or post position is further from the normal vehicle inlet. Its electrical platform matches the shorter Home Pro, with the cable length providing the material difference between the two variants.

  • 7.4kW maximum output with a 32A rated current
  • 230V AC, 50Hz single-phase incoming supply
  • Fixed 8m Mode 3 cable with Type 2 vehicle plug
  • Ohme app, colour LCD screen, unit buttons and multi-network mobile connectivity
  • 30mA Type A residual-current characteristic with 6mA DC and PEN fault detection
  • 170mm high x 200mm wide x 100mm deep, 4kg, black finish
  • IP55, IK08, UKCA marked and UK Smart Charging Regulations compliant

How does the 8m Home Pro manage charging?

Charging routines can be configured through the Ohme app using the required departure time, charging target and selected electricity tariff. The colour screen gives the driver visible charging information at the unit, while the buttons allow local interaction without relying entirely on a phone.

Tariff integration, energy monitoring, Solar Boost and home power balancing are available on this model. The multi-network mobile connection supports app communication and software updates, so installers should avoid screened locations where mobile coverage is consistently poor.

Where does the extra cable reach help?

The 8m lead gives more freedom where the charger is mounted on a side wall, behind the parking bay or away from the vehicle's usual charge port. It can also accommodate households that use vehicles with inlet positions at different ends or sides of the body.

The additional cable needs a planned storage position. The supplied holster should be located so the lead can be coiled without obstructing pedestrian access or resting where it may be driven over. This version should be ordered for its physical reach rather than as an electrical upgrade over the 5m model.

How should the circuit be designed?

The Home Pro contains an RCD-DD with a 30mA Type A characteristic and 6mA DC detection, plus built-in PEN fault detection. Separate overcurrent protection remains necessary. Ohme recommends a 40A Type B MCB and requires any upstream RCD to be at least Type A, 30mA.

A CT clamp is included for dynamic load balancing and should normally be installed on the incoming live conductor between the electricity meter and main distribution equipment. The one-metre 6mm² copper flying lead requires termination in a suitable junction box, isolation switch or mini consumer unit selected for the circuit and mounting environment.

What is the official 8m Home Pro code?

The current Ohme statement of compliance identifies the 8m Type 2 model as OHME0002GB002-8M. The previously used unhyphenated OHME0002GB0028M can be retained as a catalogue alias where required, but the official MPN should be used in the product record and structured data.

Does the longer cable increase charging output?

No. Both Home Pro cable variants are rated at a maximum of 7.4kW and 32A on a single-phase supply. The 8m version differs by lead length rather than charging power or control functions.

Which overcurrent device is recommended?

Ohme recommends a 40A Type B MCB, with overcurrent protection provided separately from the charger. The installer must still confirm the protective device, cable size and installation method for the property.

What installation components are included?

The installation guide lists the charger and backplate, one CT clamp, two Wago clips, a connector block, cable holster and hardware fixings. The equipment used to terminate and isolate the fixed input lead is not supplied.
