The Rolec EVO ROLEC5011 is a 7.4kW single-phase socketed EV charger in Daytona Grey with app, RFID and plug-and-go control. It is the single-phase EVO variant for homes and light commercial locations that want a removable-cable Type 2 charging point rather than a tethered lead. The universal charging socket lets the user select a Type 2 cable length around the bay, store the cable separately, or use the same charger across different EVs and plug-in hybrids. EVO also supports scheduled charging, smart tariff use, surplus solar charging and OCPP 1.6, so it can serve a straightforward domestic driveway or a managed light-use site. In LAMPS navigation, it belongs under Rolec, home EV chargers and, where site management is needed, commercial EV chargers.

  • ROLEC5011 single-phase EVO product code
  • Up to 7.4kW output at 32A
  • 230V AC single-phase input, 50/60Hz
  • Universal socketed output for Type 2 charging cables
  • Plug-and-go, mobile app or RFID controlled charging
  • Two EVO RFID charging cards included
  • Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity on single-phase models
  • OCPP 1.6 compliant for compatible charge point management systems
  • AC 30mA Type A and DC 6mA protection with PME fault detection
  • IP54 and IK10 rated enclosure, 260mm x 260mm x 112mm

Why specify the socketed EVO?

The socketed Rolec EVO is useful where cable flexibility matters more than plug-in speed. A household can choose a short cable for close parking or a longer cable for awkward layouts, and a business can allow drivers to use their own suitable lead. Between charging sessions, the wall unit is left without a fixed cable hanging from it.

The universal socket is also useful where the charger may serve more than one vehicle. The output is still limited by the charger, the vehicle and the supply, but the removable cable gives the user more freedom than a fixed lead. For a separate cable, the approved Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable is a relevant internal link.

Daytona Grey is the verified unit colour for ROLEC5011. It gives a neutral finish for brickwork, render, workshops and small commercial buildings. The colour does not change the electrical specification, so the choice is mainly about exterior fit and consistency across a site.

Solar modes, schedules and user control

EVO can be controlled through plug-and-go, the ROLEC EVO mobile app or RFID. Two EVO RFID charging cards are included, giving a practical access method for shared domestic parking or a small business where not every user should start a charge from an app account. The charger also has an RGB LED status halo.

Rolec lists scheduled and off-peak charging, with smart tariff integration through the EVO app. This allows users to place charging inside preferred time windows rather than charging immediately whenever a vehicle is connected. Where running cost is the main buying factor, link customers to the LAMPS EV tariff guide for broader tariff comparison.

Solar compatibility is a key reason to choose EVO over a basic socket. ECO mode uses solar by day and scheduled grid power at night, while ECO+ uses surplus solar energy only. Charge Now gives a maximum charge option when the driver needs range without waiting for generation or an off-peak window.

Installer protection and load balancing

For ROLEC5011, the manufacturer page lists AC 30mA Type A and DC 6mA protection, lightning surge protection, over-temperature protection and PME fault detection. It also states that no earth electrode or earth rod is required. The single-phase model supports automatic dynamic load balancing.

Dynamic load balancing helps the charge point respond to household or site demand rather than pulling the same current regardless of other loads. Rolec lists a single-phase CT clamp and 10m cable as an accessory, plus a single-phase solar CT clamp kit where solar measurement is needed. These accessory choices matter because load balancing and solar control need the right CT arrangement to work properly.

External protection must still be selected by the installer for the installation. Rolec lists single-phase EV consumer units with Type A RCBO among EVO accessories, including 20A and 40A options. Those are not universal prescriptions for every site, but they give buyers and installers relevant Rolec-linked components to review alongside EV circuit protection.

Connectivity and managed charging

The single-phase EVO uses Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. OCPP 1.6 compliance allows the charger to integrate with an OCPP compliant charge point management system and user app where the site requires managed operation. This makes ROLEC5011 relevant for light commercial use as well as home charging.

For a home user, the EVO app provides day-to-day control, schedules and charging mode selection. For a business, OCPP support gives a route to a management platform, subject to the selected backend and site requirements. That distinction matters because not every domestic charger is suitable for a semi-managed bay.

The charger can be wall or post mounted. Rolec lists a mounting post and EVO plate as accessories, plus a remote wall mount for a Type 2 charge gun holster. Where vehicle impact or bay visibility is a concern, a product page can also link to approved signage such as the A4 landscape EV parking sign.

Choosing between EVO and other Rolec chargers

EVO is the compact Rolec smart charger for domestic and light commercial installs. It differs from higher-power Rolec commercial chargers because it is a single-socket AC unit rather than a rapid charger or twin managed post. Choose EVO where the brief is one AC charging point with smart operation, socketed flexibility and solar modes.

The 7.4kW ROLEC5011 model is the single-phase choice. The three-phase EVO product code is ROLEC5013 and supports up to 22kW where the site supply and vehicle allow it. A standard single-phase home will not gain 22kW charging from a three-phase unit unless the incoming supply and vehicle charging capability support it.

For larger sites, LAMPS’ commercial EV chargers category is the better internal link than forcing every buyer toward a domestic wall unit. For existing Rolec interest, the approved Rolec EVO product page should be linked from any related category or guide text.

Rolec EVO questions buyers ask

Does ROLEC5011 include a charging cable?

No. ROLEC5011 is the socketed single-phase EVO, so the Type 2 cable is selected separately. Rolec lists 5m 32A 7.4kW Type 2 premium charging cable options among EVO accessories.

Can the EVO charge from surplus solar?

Yes. EVO supports solar charging modes. ECO uses solar by day and scheduled grid power at night, while ECO+ uses surplus solar only.

Is Rolec EVO suitable for light commercial use?

Yes, where a single AC socketed charge point is appropriate for the site. EVO supports OCPP 1.6, RFID operation, app control and post mounting options, which are useful for managed or semi-managed parking.
