The Rolec Quantum Smart 7.4kW EV Charging Pedestal with LCD Screen is a black single-socket pedestal for managed EV bays. ROLEC2411B is the single-phase Quantum model that adds the 5-inch LCD screen to a 1 x 7.4kW Type 2 socket layout. It is intended for workplaces, public locations, residential developments and car parks where the chargepoint should stand at the bay and give users clearer local instructions. The LCD screen can show step-by-step charging instructions, real-time charging status, live MID meter readings and support contact information. Access remains focused on plug and go, app or RFID operation through a compatible OCPP chargepoint management system, rather than direct contactless payment at the pedestal. Built-in PME fault detection, MID-approved metering, load management support and photocell-controlled LED amenity lighting make the unit suitable for managed commercial parking projects. For wider ranges, browse commercial EV chargers.

Why add an LCD to Quantum

The LCD screen is useful where drivers may need charging instructions at the pedestal, especially in shared sites and public car parks. Status lights alone can be enough for a private or staff-only site, but a display gives the user more direct information at the chargepoint. The screen can show charging steps, real-time status, live MID meter readings and support contact information, which helps reduce uncertainty at the bay.

This is not the payment-terminal version. It suits sites where access is controlled through app, RFID or plug and go operation, but where the operator wants clearer on-pedestal information. That can include managed residential parking, workplace charging and visitor sites where payment is handled through another route. If walk-up contactless payment is required, the contactless Quantum models should be specified instead.

Single-socket layout for guided charging

The single Type 2 socket serves one marked EV bay. A socketed arrangement lets the driver use a suitable Type 2 cable and avoids leaving a tethered lead on the pedestal between sessions. That is useful in public or semi-public car parks where exposed cables may create management issues.

The LCD screen gives the single bay a stronger local interface without increasing the socket count. If two adjacent bays need display support from one pedestal, ROLEC2421B provides the 2 x 7.4kW variant. If the site has a three-phase supply and needs higher AC output, ROLEC2413B and ROLEC2423B provide 22kW versions. The installer should choose the electrical variant from the supply design and choose the display variant from the user experience required at the bay.

Protection, metering and supply control

ROLEC2411B includes PME fault detection, so no earth rod is required for the PME protection function. Built-in protection also covers AC overload and fault current protection, 6mA DC fault protection, lightning surge protection and over temperature protection. External source protection still needs to be assessed for cable type, route and installation conditions.

MID-approved energy metering supports accurate usage reporting, and the LCD variant can display live MID meter readings at the chargepoint. Dynamic load balancing and static load management support supply control on constrained sites or projects with multiple chargers. OCPP 1.6 compliance allows the charger to connect with compatible chargepoint management systems for reporting and remote operation. For the supporting circuit schedule, include EV circuit protection in the site design.

Quantum build, lighting and finish

The pedestal measures 375mm wide, 1440mm high and 275mm deep. The substructure uses 2.5mm 6063 extruded aluminium with a hard anodised protective finish, while the panels are 3.2mm aluminium composite. The LCD screen is protected by a tempered glass front where fitted. High impact resistant polycarbonate is used for the lens, base, lid, collar and louvres.

Photocell-controlled LED amenity lighting helps mark the charging position in darker conditions. The black finish suits sites using dark parking furniture, black bollards or low-contrast charging equipment. It also differs clearly from the grey and white Quantum colour options in the standard smart range. Where the pedestal sits in an open traffic route, physical protection should be considered, using approved options such as surface mount EV chargepoint protection.

Choosing Quantum LCD variants

ROLEC2411B is the 1 x 7.4kW single-phase Quantum pedestal with LCD screen. ROLEC2421B is the dual-socket 7.4kW LCD version. ROLEC2413B provides one 22kW three-phase socket with the same LCD screen interface, while ROLEC2423B provides two 22kW three-phase sockets. Socket count and supply type should be selected before choosing accessories and management settings.

ROLEC0411B is the standard smart version without LCD or contactless payment. ROLEC1411B adds contactless payment without the LCD. ROLEC3411B combines the LCD screen with contactless payment. Choose this LCD-only model where local instructions and live status are important, but direct card payment at the pedestal is not part of the site requirement.

Quantum LCD questions

What does the LCD screen show on ROLEC2411B?

The 5-inch LCD screen can show step-by-step charging instructions, real-time charging status, live MID meter readings and support contact information. This SKU has one Type 2 socket, so the displayed charging information relates to one outlet.

Does this Quantum have contactless payment?

No. ROLEC2411B is the LCD screen model without the integrated contactless payment terminal. The combined LCD and contactless payment model is supplied under a separate SKU.

Is this version suitable for a three-phase supply?

No. This SKU is the 1 x 7.4kW single-phase version. The Quantum range includes separate 22kW three-phase LCD variants for sites with a 400V AC supply.
