The Rolec SecuriCharge Contactless Payment 7.4kW EV Charger with LCD Screen is a black wall-mounted commercial chargepoint with one Type 2 socket. ROLEC3111B is the single-phase, single-socket variant that combines a 5-inch LCD display with an integrated contactless payment terminal. It provides up to 7.4kW at 32A from a 230V AC supply and is designed for public-facing, workplace, residential and long-stay parking sites where drivers need clear local instructions and a direct payment route at the unit. The Type 2 socket lets users connect a suitable cable, while the display can show charging steps, real-time charging status and live MID meter readings. Contactless payment, mobile app, RFID and plug and charge operation give the operator several access models. OCPP 1.6J support allows connection to compatible management platforms. Payment and LCD use at the bay

The payment terminal makes this charger suitable for sites where drivers may arrive without a pre-issued RFID card or an existing app account. Contactless payment is a practical requirement for many visitor, destination and public-facing locations because it gives a familiar payment method directly at the charger. The LCD screen adds a second user benefit by showing charging instructions, real-time charging status and live MID meter readings for the outlet.

The display and payment terminal should be specified when the charger has to support occasional users, not just known staff or residents. The screen helps reduce uncertainty at the bay, while the contactless terminal supports walk-up charging where the operator has configured that payment model through a compatible service. For fully private sites, a standard SecuriCharge may be sufficient. For public-facing sites, the combined display and payment version reduces the need for separate signage or user explanation at the point of charge.

How the single-socket layout is specified

The single Type 2 socket serves one charging bay from one SecuriCharge housing. It is the lower-capacity layout within the LCD and payment group, giving the full user interface specification without taking on the circuit demand or footprint planning of a dual-socket unit. The driver supplies the Type 2 cable, which keeps the wall unit free of a permanently exposed tethered lead.

Socketed charging is useful in shared car parks because different drivers can use cables that match their vehicles and parking habits. The operator should still plan clear bay instructions, cable route and parking position, especially where visitors will use the charger. Where two adjacent bays need to be served from one unit, ROLEC3121B is the related 2 x 7.4kW version. Where a three-phase supply is available and higher AC output is justified, ROLEC3113B and ROLEC3123B move the same combined interface concept to 22kW variants.

Protection, metering and network control

Built-in protection includes a 40A 30mA Type A RCBO per socket, 6mA DC fault protection, lightning surge protection, over temperature protection and PME fault detection. PME fault detection removes the need for a separate earth electrode for that function. External source protection, surge protection requirements and cable route still need to be assessed during the installation design, particularly on exposed commercial sites.

Integrated Class 1 MID compliant metering supports accurate consumption reporting for billing, cost allocation and management records. OCPP 1.6J communications allow the charger to connect to a compatible chargepoint management system. Communications include 4G LTE, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, RJ45 Ethernet, NFC and Bluetooth Low Energy for installer configuration. For supporting protective devices, include EV circuit protection in the project review.

Housing and car park installation

The SecuriCharge enclosure measures 320mm wide, 575mm high and 155mm deep. The body and door use heavy-duty 1.5mm steel with zinc primer and textured polyester powder coating, with tempered glass used where the display is fitted. The enclosure and socket are rated IP54, impact protection is IK10 and operating temperature is specified from -30°C to +50°C. Dual tamper and breach notifications support use in exposed car parks.

Wall mounting is the standard arrangement, with post and ground mounting base accessories available in the SecuriCharge range. Public and workplace car parks should also be reviewed for vehicle impact exposure. Where bays sit close to traffic flow, physical protection can be specified using a root mount EV chargepoint protector or a surface-mounted barrier. Cable reach, visibility and access around the LCD screen should be checked before final positioning.

Choosing SecuriCharge payment variants

ROLEC3111B is the 1 x 7.4kW single-phase SecuriCharge with both LCD screen and contactless payment terminal. ROLEC3121B adds a second 7.4kW socket for two single-phase bays. ROLEC3113B provides one 22kW three-phase socket, while ROLEC3123B provides two 22kW three-phase sockets. The user interface stays focused on display plus payment, while the socket count and supply type change.

Other SecuriCharge variants reduce or change the interface. ROLEC0311B is the standard single-socket smart model without LCD or contactless payment. ROLEC1111B adds contactless payment without the LCD. ROLEC2111B adds the LCD screen without the contactless payment terminal. Choose this combined model when the site needs driver instructions, live charging status and tap-to-pay capability at the chargepoint.

SecuriCharge LCD payment questions

What does ROLEC3111B add over the standard model?

It adds both the 5-inch LCD screen and the integrated contactless payment terminal to the single-socket 7.4kW SecuriCharge format. The standard single-socket model does not include either of those user interface upgrades.

Is this the single-phase version?

Yes. This SKU is the 1 x up to 7.4kW Type 2 socket version for a 230V AC single-phase supply. Three-phase 22kW versions are available under separate SecuriCharge SKUs.

Does it need an earth rod?

No. The SecuriCharge specification includes PME fault detection with no earth electrode required for that function. Final source protection and surge protection still need to be assessed for the installation.
