The Rolec SecuriCharge Smart 7.4kW Single Socket EV Charger is a black commercial wall-mounted chargepoint with one Type 2 socket. ROLEC0311B is the standard single-phase single-socket SecuriCharge variant, specified without the LCD screen or integrated contactless payment terminal. It provides up to 7.4kW at 32A from a 230V AC supply and suits car parks, workplaces, long-stay parking, residential developments and exposed locations where the charger needs a stronger housing than a compact domestic unit. The single socket format lets the user connect a suitable Type 2 cable, which is useful where different drivers use the same bay. Operation is available through mobile app, RFID card or fob, or plug and charge. OCPP 1.6J support gives the charger a route into compatible chargepoint management systems. Built-in MID compliant metering, PME fault detection and dual tamper and breach notifications support managed site operation. Browse commercial EV chargers for wider project comparisons.

Where the standard SecuriCharge fits

The standard SecuriCharge is designed for managed parking where the site needs a stronger commercial casing, controlled access and OCPP capability, but not an integrated payment terminal or LCD screen. It works well for staff car parks, residential developments, fleet locations and long-stay bays where charging is controlled by app, RFID or plug and charge. The single Type 2 socket keeps the hardware simple and lets the driver use an appropriate cable.

The single-socket format suits one marked bay or one dedicated charging position. If the project needs two vehicles served from the same enclosure, ROLEC0321B is the dual 7.4kW socket version. If the site has a three-phase supply and vehicles can use higher AC charging, ROLEC0313B and ROLEC0323B move the standard feature set to 22kW three-phase versions. The key point for ROLEC0311B is specification restraint. It gives the SecuriCharge housing and connected controls without adding user interface hardware that the project may not need.

Managed access without payment hardware

This variant supports mobile app, RFID and plug and charge operation. RFID is helpful when site owners need to restrict access to staff, residents or approved users. Mobile app operation gives a digital route for starting sessions and viewing charge activity through the selected management platform. Plug and charge can be used where access control is intentionally kept simple.

OCPP 1.6J support allows the charger to connect to a compatible chargepoint management system. That enables operators to self-manage public or private EV charging networks, subject to the platform selected. Class 1 MID compliant metering supports accurate consumption reporting, which is valuable where costs are allocated to tenants, employees, visitors or departments. Since this variant does not include the contactless payment terminal, it is better suited to controlled sites than to public locations expecting walk-up card payment at the unit.

Protection for exposed commercial bays

Built-in protection includes a 40A 30mA Type A RCBO per socket, 6mA DC fault protection, lightning surge protection, over temperature protection and PME fault detection. PME fault detection means no earth electrode or rod is required for that function. External protection still needs assessment, and the data sheet states that a suitably rated MCB or Type A 30mA device should be installed at source depending on cable type and route. Surge protection may also be required depending on the installation.

Dynamic load balancing and static load management are supported, with additional hardware potentially required. Load management matters on commercial sites because multiple chargepoints can push total demand beyond the available supply if unmanaged. The charger’s cable terminals support single-phase connection, and the output can be configured down to a minimum of 6A where the available supply is limited. For supporting circuit equipment, see EV circuit protection.

Housing, security and installation details

The SecuriCharge enclosure measures 320mm wide, 575mm high and 155mm deep. The body uses heavy-duty 1.5mm steel with zinc primer, finished in textured polyester powder coating. The enclosure and socket are rated IP54, impact protection is IK10, and the specified operating temperature range is -30°C to +50°C. Dual tamper and breach notifications are included, and the charger has a lockable front access door.

The black finish is the standard colour for this SKU, with other colours available upon request in the wider range. Wall or post mounting is supported through the independent back plate. The SecuriCharge mounting post accessories are listed for one or two chargers, and a ground mounting base is available for solid ground fixing. For exposed car parks, physical bay protection may also be considered using items such as root mount EV chargepoint protection or a surface mounted barrier.

Choosing between SecuriCharge options

ROLEC0311B is the standard 1 x 7.4kW single-phase socket model with no additional LCD or contactless payment hardware. ROLEC0321B keeps the same standard feature set but adds a second 7.4kW socket. ROLEC0313B and ROLEC0323B provide one or two 22kW three-phase sockets where a 400V supply is available. These four models are the lower-complexity SecuriCharge options for sites that do not need the additional user interface hardware.

The upgraded single-socket variants add features around the same 7.4kW base arrangement. ROLEC1111B adds a contactless payment terminal, ROLEC2111B adds the 5-inch LCD screen, and ROLEC3111B combines the LCD screen with contactless payment. Choose the standard version when access is handled through app, RFID or a private management system. Choose the payment or display variants when the user interface at the charger is part of the site requirement.

SecuriCharge standard questions

What makes ROLEC0311B different from the payment version?

ROLEC0311B is the standard single-socket 7.4kW SecuriCharge with no LCD screen and no integrated contactless payment terminal. ROLEC1111B adds the contactless payment terminal for locations that need card payment at the unit.

Does this SecuriCharge need an earth rod?

No. The SecuriCharge data sheet lists PME fault detection with no earth electrode or rod required for that function. Source protection and surge protection still need to be assessed for the final installation.

Can it be used with a management system?

Yes. The charger supports OCPP 1.6J and is designed for integration with compatible chargepoint management systems. That makes it suitable for managed public or private networks when paired with the chosen platform.
