When a WallPod plate is needed

The plate is needed when the WallPod is being installed through a post mounting route that requires the WallPod plate. A direct wall fix and a post-mounted installation are not the same physical arrangement. The charger may be the same electrical product, but the support hardware changes when the unit moves away from the wall.

Installers should check the accessory schedule before ordering. The charger model, mounting post and plate need to match. If the plate is omitted, the installer may have the charger and post on site without the complete manufacturer-listed mounting package. That can delay the job and create unnecessary rework, especially where the post has already been set into the bay.

How it fits into a post-mounted bay

A WallPod post installation starts with the vehicle position and cable route. The post should sit where the user can connect the vehicle without pulling the lead across a poor route. The plate then supports the charger mounting arrangement on the selected post. It is a small item compared with the charger, but it affects whether the physical installation can be completed cleanly.

For socketed WallPod models, allow for the user’s Type 2 cable to reach the vehicle without crossing the main walking path. For tethered WallPod models, allow for cable storage and connector return after charging. The plate does not decide those issues, but it belongs in the same planning process because the mounting position cannot be separated from how the charger will be used.

Rolec accessory listings show EVFP0040 as the WallPod plate for mounting post, while EVFP0035 is listed on current WallPod accessory information as a mounting post that fits up to two units. Older WallPod accessory data also lists EVFP0010 as a WallPod 1350mm galvanised steel mounting post. The project parts list should identify which post route is being used and whether the plate is required with that route.

Do not substitute a plate from another Rolec range without checking. EVO, Zura, WallPod, Tap & Charge and SecuriCharge accessories are similar in purpose but not automatically interchangeable. The safest process is to identify the charger family, confirm the post, then add the listed plate and any protection accessories. That keeps the installer’s order aligned with the manufacturer’s accessory structure.

Protection around post-mounted WallPod units

Moving a WallPod from a wall onto a post can place the charger closer to moving vehicles. That may improve cable reach, but it can also increase exposure to bumps from cars or vans. The charger position should be reviewed with bay marking, kerbs, walking routes and any protection barrier before the post is fixed.

Where protection is required, a root mount EV chargepoint protection barrier is suitable for layouts being planned with groundworks. A surface mounted option may suit retrofit locations. The barrier should leave enough space for the user to access the WallPod, handle the cable and use the charger without obstruction.
