  • Root mount or surface mount EV protection barriers
  • Type 2 32A charging cables for socketed bays

The Rolec SecuriCharge Contactless Payment 7.4kW EV Charger is a black single-phase commercial chargepoint with one Type 2 socket and an integrated payment terminal. ROLEC1111B provides up to 7.4kW at 32A from a 230V AC supply and adds contactless payment hardware to the standard single-socket SecuriCharge specification. It is intended for car parks, workplaces, destinations and managed residential sites where the operator wants a payment route at the charger rather than app or RFID access alone. The single socket lets drivers connect a suitable Type 2 cable, keeping the wall unit free of a fixed lead. OCPP 1.6J support allows connection to compatible chargepoint management systems, while Class 1 MID compliant metering supports accurate consumption reporting. Built-in protection includes PME fault detection, RCBO protection per socket and 6mA DC fault protection. Explore wider commercial EV chargers for multi-bay projects.

Where contactless payment changes the spec

Contactless payment matters where the driver may not be a pre-registered staff member, resident or fleet user. ROLEC1111B gives the site a payment terminal at the charger, so it is better suited to visitor parking, destinations and public-facing bays than the standard app and RFID-only model. The contactless hardware does not change the 7.4kW output or the single Type 2 socket. It changes how users can pay for or authorise the charging session.

The payment terminal is most useful when the charger is part of a managed commercial setup. Operators still need to plan the chargepoint management system, tariff model, connectivity and support process. For fully private sites, the standard SecuriCharge may be sufficient. For locations where drivers need clearer on-unit instructions and live meter information, the LCD screen variants should be compared. This model sits between those options by adding payment hardware without adding the 5-inch display.

Control options for public-facing use

SecuriCharge supports plug and charge, app, RFID and contactless payment operation where fitted. That lets the operator serve different user groups from the same charger. Staff or residents can use RFID or app access, while visitors can use the payment terminal when the site is configured for that operating model. The charger also includes a configurable RGB LED status halo, giving a local indication of charger state.

OCPP 1.6J support allows the unit to integrate with compatible chargepoint management systems. That enables management of public or private charging networks, subject to the platform chosen. The integrated Class 1 MID compliant meter supports accurate energy reporting for billing, cost allocation or usage monitoring. The contactless payment terminal adds its own standby load where fitted, so energy planning should account for the payment hardware as well as the charging circuit.

Protection, security and compliance details

The built-in protection package includes AC overload and fault current protection through a 40A 30mA Type A RCBO per socket, plus 6mA DC fault protection, lightning surge protection, over temperature protection and PME fault detection. PME fault detection removes the requirement for an earth electrode or rod for that function. Required external protection still depends on cable type and route, and the data sheet states that a suitably rated MCB or Type A 30mA device is to be installed at source.

Security features include a lockable front access door and dual tamper and breach notifications. The contactless payment terminal is listed as a model-dependent interface feature and includes additional payment device compliances where fitted. OCPP management, metering and tamper reporting make this charger a better fit for managed parking than for simple private charging. Load management is also supported, with dynamic load balancing potentially requiring additional hardware and static load management configurable in software.

Outdoor casing for car park environments

The enclosure and socket are rated IP54, with IK10 impact protection. The body uses heavy-duty 1.5mm steel with zinc primer and a textured polyester powder coat finish. The unit measures 320mm wide, 575mm high and 155mm deep, giving installers a clear footprint for wall layouts, post positions and bay drawings. The operating temperature range is -30°C to +50°C, and operating humidity is specified from 5% to 95%.

The black finish is standard for this SKU, with other colours available on request within the range. Wall or post mounting is supported through the SecuriCharge mounting arrangement. For open car parks, consider physical protection around the bay as part of the wider installation. A surface mount EV chargepoint protector or root mounted barrier can reduce exposure to vehicle impact in vulnerable locations.

Choosing the payment variant

ROLEC1111B is the 1 x 7.4kW contactless payment terminal model. ROLEC1121B is the related dual-socket 7.4kW version, while ROLEC1113B and ROLEC1123B move the payment terminal specification to 22kW three-phase charging. The payment terminal is the distinguishing feature across those models. The output and socket count should be selected from the supply and bay design.

The standard single-socket version, ROLEC0311B, removes the payment terminal. ROLEC2111B adds a 5-inch LCD screen without the integrated contactless terminal. ROLEC3111B combines the LCD screen and contactless payment terminal. Choose this model where contactless payment at the charger is the priority and the site does not require an LCD display. Choose the combined model where driver instructions, live charging status and contactless payment all need to be presented at the unit.

SecuriCharge contactless questions

What does ROLEC1111B add over the standard model?

ROLEC1111B adds an integrated contactless payment terminal to the 1 x 7.4kW single-socket SecuriCharge. The standard ROLEC0311B version has no LCD screen and no integrated contactless payment terminal.

Does this model include an LCD screen?

No. This variant includes the contactless payment terminal but not the 5-inch LCD screen. The LCD single-socket model is ROLEC2111B, while the combined LCD and contactless model is ROLEC3111B.

Can it support managed charging networks?

Yes. The charger supports OCPP 1.6J and integrated MID compliant metering. That makes it suitable for a compatible chargepoint management system where billing, access control or usage reporting is required.
