The Rolec EVO ROLEC5013 is a 22kW three-phase AC EV charger with a universal Type 2 socket, 400V AC 50/60Hz supply requirement and IP54 rated Daytona Grey enclosure. This variant is intended for three-phase homes, workplaces, fleet parking and light commercial sites where the electrical supply and vehicle onboard charger can support faster AC charging than a 7.4kW single-phase unit. It differs from ROLEC5011 by adding three-phase 22kW output, 4G LTE Cat-1 connectivity and three-to-single-phase switching.

How does the EVO 22kW handle access?

ROLEC5013 supports plug and go, ROLEC EVO app control and RFID access, with two EVO RFID cards included. This gives a site operator a simple way to allow authorised charging without making every user rely on the app.

The EVO app supports scheduled charging, charging state, multi-user access, usage analytics, fault notifications and security alerts. Charge Now provides maximum charging when required, ECO combines solar by day with scheduled grid charging, and ECO+ is designed for surplus solar charging only.

For managed workplace or fleet use, OCPP 1.6J allows connection to compatible chargepoint management systems. Any named tariff, back-office or payment platform should be verified separately before adding it to the page, as compatibility can change.

Why specify the 22kW untethered model?

The untethered format lets the site select a separate Type 2 cable around the vehicle mix and bay layout. A three-phase cable is required to make use of the 22kW capability where the vehicle also supports that charging rate. Vehicles with a lower onboard AC charger will charge at their own maximum AC rate rather than automatically taking 22kW.

ROLEC5013 is the correct EVO choice where a three-phase supply is available and the customer wants a compact wall unit rather than a fixed tethered lead. The charger is IP54 rated for ingress protection, IK10 rated for impact protection and suitable for wall or post mounting.

What must be allowed for on installation?

The three-phase model requires a supply up to 32A three phase at 400V AC ±10%. The installer must confirm the available capacity, cable route, protective device selection, earthing arrangement and whether surge protection is required for the site.

Rolec specifies that a suitably rated MCB or 30mA Type A RCBO is to be installed at source, dependent on the cable type and route. Cable terminals for the three-phase version are listed as 6 x 50mm for E, N, 3P and PE, so the installer should check the intended cable and gland arrangement before installation.

Automatic dynamic load balancing is supported, but the three-phase EVO requires an optional CT kit. Use ACSR5013 for three-phase load balancing or ACSR5014 where both three-phase solar and load balancing CT functionality is required.

Does ROLEC5013 include 4G?

Yes. The Rolec EVO datasheet lists 4G LTE Cat-1 for the three-phase model only, with a built-in nano SIM and subscription required. Do not claim a specific included SIM term unless Rolec has confirmed it for this product.

Does the 22kW EVO need a three-phase supply?

Yes. ROLEC5013 is the three-phase EVO model and is listed for 400V AC ±10%, 50/60Hz, up to 32A three phase. The connected vehicle must also support three-phase AC charging to take advantage of the full 22kW output.

Is the three-phase CT kit included?

No. Rolec notes that CT clamp and cable are included with single-phase models, while three-phase models require an optional CT kit. Use ACSR5013 for EVO three-phase load balancing or ACSR5014 for three-phase solar and load balancing.

What upstream protection is required?

The datasheet states that a suitably rated MCB or 30mA Type A RCBO is to be installed at source, depending on cable type and route. Surge protection may be required depending on the installation, so the installer must specify the protective devices for the site.
