The Sync Energy CFEV5RDAW-01 is a white IP65 EV consumer unit with 100A main switch, 40A double-pole RCBO and Type 2 SPD. It is the white enclosure version of the RCBO populated Sync Energy EV protection board, designed for dedicated EV charger circuits where a surface mounted 5 module unit is required. The device layout gives incoming isolation through the 100A main switch, combined final-circuit overcurrent and residual-current protection through the 40A 30mA Type A double-pole RCBO, and surge protection through the Type 2 SPD. The enclosure is made from cast aluminium, rated IP65 and supplied with the fitted devices, DIN rail, neutral cable, neutral and earth terminals, labels, busbar and cover blanks. The white finish is useful where the board sits on render, light brick or a more visible charger supply location.

White enclosure for visible EV installs

The white enclosure gives installers a cleaner match on pale render, light brick, white cladding and customer-facing charger locations. The electrical protection layout is the same core RCBO arrangement as the grey CFEV5RDA-01 version, but the enclosure colour changes the visual fit on site. That matters when the protection board is mounted near the charger rather than hidden in a plant room or garage.

The cast aluminium enclosure is surface mounted and IP65 rated. BG lists a padlock facility, backed-out retained terminal screws and all metal construction. The board is intended for use when the EV charger supply cable does not have mechanical protection.

Protection layout in the white RCBO board

CFEV5RDAW-01 is supplied with one 100A main switch, one 40A 30mA Type A double-pole RCBO and one Type 2 SPD. The RCBO arrangement means the outgoing EV circuit has combined overcurrent and residual-current protection in one device. The Type 2 SPD provides surge protection within the same enclosure.

The product details list rated sensitivity at 30mA, trip speed below 0.1 seconds and operating temperature from -25°C to +40°C. The listed standards include BS EN 60947-3, BS EN 61008, BS EN 61439 and BS EN 62208 references. Final compliance still depends on correct selection, installation, testing and the complete charger circuit design.

Cable entries and mounting details

The enclosure has 11 knockouts and four wall fixing positions. Cable entry type is listed as knockout, with M20 to M32 entry positions across the faces. That gives installers options for route planning where supply and outgoing charger cables approach from different directions.

The kit is supplied with devices, DIN rail, neutral cable, neutral and earth terminals, labels, busbar and cover blanks. That makes it a populated EV protection board, not an empty enclosure. For matching alternatives, use the LAMPS EV circuit protection range and the BG range.

Choosing white or grey Sync Energy boards

CFEV5RDAW-01 is the white RCBO version. CFEV5RDA-01 is the grey RCBO version with the same 100A main switch, 40A 30mA Type A double-pole RCBO and Type 2 SPD layout. The colour should be selected by the installation location and the finish preferred by the customer or contractor.

There are also RCD and MCB versions in grey and white. CFEV5AW-01 is the white sibling with a 40A 30mA Type A RCD, 40A MCB and Type 2 SPD. Choose the RCBO model where the design calls for a main switch and double-pole RCBO layout, and choose the RCD and MCB model where those devices are specified separately.
