Ideal for

  • 40A circuits requiring MCB protection
  • Larger Hager board layouts using MTN outgoing devices
  • Domestic and light commercial distribution boards
  • Installations where residual-current protection is provided separately
  • Replacement of existing Hager MTN140 devices

Works well with

  • Hager VME114 and VME120 main switch boards using higher-rated MTN devices
  • Hager dual-row Design Evo boards with MCB-protected outgoing ways
  • Hager MZN175 padlockable locking kit for isolation requirements
  • Hager LZ060 heat dissipation insert where spacing is specified
  • Hager ADB9 RCBO range where individual Type A protection is needed instead

The Hager MTN140 is a 40A B curve single pole miniature circuit breaker with 6kA rated short-circuit breaking capacity in a 1 module DIN rail body. It suits compatible Hager boards where the installation design calls for a 40A MCB rather than a lower-rated device or an RCBO.

  • 40A rated current with B curve tripping characteristic
  • 6kA rated short-circuit breaking capacity to IEC 60898-1
  • Single pole 1P format in a 1 module body
  • 230 to 400V AC rated operational voltage and 50 to 60Hz frequency
  • Screw terminal top connection and biconnect bottom connection
  • 70mm depth, 17.5mm width and 83mm height
  • IP20 protection with 1 to 35mm² rigid and 1 to 25mm² flexible conductor capacity

Where does a 40A MCB fit?

MTN140 should be specified only where the electrical design supports a 40A B curve device. The installer must confirm cable size, load type, installation method, grouping, ambient conditions and disconnection requirements.

Why mention the 6kA rating clearly?

The 6kA breaking capacity is one of the deciding checks for circuit protection. The prospective fault current at the point of installation must be suitable for the protective device selected.

How should it be linked with boards?

Use MTN140 as a related outgoing device for larger Hager boards where 40A MCB-protected circuits are specified. Keep it separate from 40A RCBO or EV consumer unit pages so the buyer lands on the correct device type.

Is MTN140 one module wide?

Yes. Hager lists MTN140 as a 1 module MCB with a 17.5mm width.

Does it include residual-current protection?

No. MTN140 is an MCB and does not include 30mA residual-current protection.
